2013 Mini Cleanse : Days 3, 4 and 5 | The Freezer, Fridge and Pantry

>> Monday, January 14, 2013

After a busy few days, I decided to roll the freezer, fridge and pantry into one post. I've been dreading doing these three for months, but honestly, the whole shebang took about 30 minutes. Not to shabby.

Lets first start with my adorable freezer :). The husband and I started a tradition on our honeymoon where every time we go somewhere together, we buy a magnet. Its been such a fun tradition and our fridge is really filling up! I love looking at it an reminiscing about all of the places we've been as a couple, its so much fun! Also, Stickygram is the best thing ever. If you're an Instagrammer, you can get your images printed out into tiny magnets. Seriously its so much fun. Use this code for $2 off your first pack! I could barely get in the freezer there was so much crammed in

Dudes. There was food that expired in 2011. There is no excuse for this
And after! I got rid of a ton of stuff, things that were super old *see above* and things
that just weren't good anymore or I knew we'd never eat.

Now on to the Fridge for Day 4. My fridge actually wasn't too bad, its definitely been worse. But it was full of some old leftovers and lots of old condiment bottles. Again, found one that expired in 2011... geez

Here's the before (sorry for the terrible lighting, my fridge lighting kinda sucks)
And the door
Here's the after: much more space!
And the door, I got rid of a ton of stuff from here even though it really doesn't look like it.
And I took the extra time to wash out all of the bottles and containers so that I could recycle them.
My bin is full to the top now! Its so nice looking in there and knowing everything is good and fresh :)

And lastly, for Day 5, the Pantry. My large pantry was actually cleaned out in December so I decided to focus on our cabinets in the kitchen. I was shocked by how much I actually threw out here. There were half opened packets of dry mixes and some other expired things. Plus some items I know I'd just never use (black sprinkles anyone??)

Here are the two cabinets, they're overhead, small and side by side

And now the after! Just like under the sink, I grabbed another one of those unused plastic bowls and filled it with the dry mix packets (green bowl, top right)
I put all of my dry goods in glass jars (minus that new sugar, I didn't have enough room) and I even keep our chocolate chips in an old Ball jar I've had
Here's the little green bowl again with the mixes. I love that I can just grab the whole bowl and pull it down instead of awkwardly trying to find the right packet while reaching up to get it
And then the other side. Lots of dry goods got tossed from here. I'm loving my cleaned out food spaces!

Up tomorrow is the Junk Drawer. Stay tuned! :)
