How I Wore It: JCrew Summer Classic

>> Sunday, June 24, 2012

Remember my first post where I talked about a favorite potential look from JCrew?

Well I finally got myself all dressed up and replicated the look! I had found this skirt at JCrew about a month ago on clearance, and when I saw it I knew it had to be mine. One thing you'll discover about me is that I am a stripe fanatic, I would pretty much wear them every day if I could (and I usually do). But instead of wearing them on top, they're now on the bottom.

I loved pairing this chunky pearl necklace with the skirt, it made me feel so "housewifey". Not that I'm the best housewife, just check out this recent text between me and my husband:

Necklace: Loft Outlet 2011
Shoes: TOMS Sierra Wedges

*btw - people always ask why I have ICE before my husband's name. It means In Case of Emergency, so if I'm ever in an accident and someone finds my phone, they know who to call! And if they don't know the ICE acronym, I have "husband" at the end. Preparedness is my middle name. Not really.

Loft Summer Shorts

I just got these short yesterday in the mail from Loft. First, can I just say how much I LOVE IT when stores are consistent in their sizing so that if I get the itch to shop online I KNOW the items will fit? Well, I LOVE IT. I bought these three items during an online promotion, and with some added discounts I had they came out to $11.25 each, down from $40, $40 and $50. That, my friends, is bargain shopping right there. And when they arrived I was smitten. The white shorts are like jean cutoffs, rolled at the hem and fit snugly. The blue pair are a cotton twill and such a fun color (a little more peacocky in real life... is that word?) and the ikat pink pair are a cotton/linen. I've really been in to bold colors on the bottom lately, and I've never owned white pants, so these white ones are a little step in that direction. Hopefully it will stop raining here soon so they can get some use!

High Five for Friday

>> Friday, June 22, 2012

Each Friday I am going to start a new series called "High Five for Friday" based off From My Grey Desk. Every Friday she posts her favorite 5 things from the week, be it photos she took, other things she saw on the internet or whatever she's currently loving. I think this is a fun way to wrap up the week, so I'm going to participate as well!

So here are my first 5 High Five for Friday's:

1. My adorable sleeping husband and our crazy cat, Nibby.
One of my favorite photos ever

2. New Sheet music for the piano. There's nothing quite like it

3. The hilarity (and truthfulness!) of SomeEcards. Being pale is awesome

4. My photography Welcome Packet, finally complete. I'm in love!

5. My new favorite wedges. Kenneth Cole Reaction "Kiss me Doll". So comfy!

What I Wore: Rainy Day Blues

>> Sunday, June 10, 2012

For being in the sunshine state we sure haven't seen much sun the past week! We've had rain here in Florida almost every single day for over a week. That never happens in the summer. Unless there's a hurricane :).

When getting dressed to head out for the evening, I found that my color choices were greatly affected by the weather. Blues and grays. But honestly, I kinda liked the monochromatic look. Sorry I look a little tired, these were taken around 8pm and I was still getting over a cold. Obviously not optimal conditions for photos ;)

Outfit Inspiration: JCrew Summer Classic

>> Saturday, June 9, 2012

When summer hits, not only do we get waves of heat, but also waves of color! I always feel my most bold in the summertime, wearing bright colors and patterns I wouldn't wear any other time of the year. But being a girl who loves the classics, this outfit gives you a bit of flare while still staying classic and a little girlie. JCrew is my all-time favorite store (though my bank account isn't a fan...) and even though I can't always afford their pieces, its a great source of inspiration for when I go shopping. Check back later this week to see how I did my own version of this outfit :)
